This week is my last week to finish what I need to do. I’m really close to finishing all I need to is put an image in my double page spread and then I need to put the title in and then a couple of coloured boxes to make the main parts of the text stand out then that’s me finished.

Final blog from 28th - 1st of April
Last week went really well, I got my article finished and I think that it fits what I was trying to get really well. I think the writing of the article was quite difficult but after I got into the flow of it then it started to get much easier. It was hard to keep to the tone that I wanted to because I don’t normally talk that extreme. I also made a couple of changes to the front cover that I did last week, I changed some the way the colour of some of the text and also the backgrounds base colour from red to green because the red was much too harsh and the green just made it much easier on the eyes. I didn’t get time to take anymore pictures because I was much too busy doing the article.
Final blog from 21st - 25th of March
Last week went well; I got a lot of work finished that week. I managed to edit my front cover and the image so that I am happy with how it looks. I am very pleased with how long I have to finish on my article and my work on InDesign as I think it will be much harder to do. I think that I got most of my problems last week from actually choosing the image for my front cover. The problem came when all of the pictures I had taken were in landscape and I needed portrait to make it fit well. So to solve this problem I rented out a camera and took some new ones. After a bit of editing I feel that it suites the mood that I have gone for.
This week I hope to, at the very least, nearly complete my article or even complete it. I would be very happy with myself if I could get it done and start to work on perfecting it and maybe even getting some more pictures that couple look better than they do. The article is my main priority for this week as without it I will have to struggle and cram in the last week to get it done.
Final blog from 14th - 19th of March
Last week went great I got my photo shoot done and I’m very happy with that. The photo shoot went well I think, my model Alice was a bit nerves at the start but she soon got into the flow of things and really got into the shoot. I got some really good images from the shoot and it set me on my way to start on my way for editing and making my front cover. Having my shoot on Wednesday gave me plenty of time to make sure I was ready but still gave me enough time after the shoot to make any quick adjustments and make sure the images all fit into the space. Also last week we handed in our pre production work so that means I have much more time to get all the work I need to do finished.
This week I’m planning to finish of my front cover, I think that if I get is done as soon as possible then I will have more time to work on my article which I think will take me the most amount of time. I also think that if I get the work done before the deadline I could make some alternative front covers or double page spreads, from them I could pick my favourite and submit that.
Final blog from 7th - 12th of March
This week I have started doing a lot of the written work for this section of the course. Theses quite a lot to do, we had to make sure that we had a very clear idea of what we wanted to do in our heads. I am spilt between 2 ideas about what to do, the first was a space ship flying towards the earth with a comment saying it was way too hot. The second idea is that I have a light switch with some arrows pointing at the off switch to suggest that you should turn it off.
I have also started to think about my double page spread, I’m not really 100% how I want it yet but I am going to try to base it around a nuts magazine’s article with that kind of language and imagery. I also want it to be quite bright and attractive to keep catch the views eye when they are flicking through.
Final blog from 28th - 5th of March
This week are starting are final section. We have been asked to make a magazine that tackles the issues of global warming. We also have to make a double page spread with an article in it. The target audience we have to look at are 16 to 19 year olds of either gender. I think that I’m going to try aim at the males as I think that I can relate to what they like much better than I can to females. In this week we are setting out on the preproduction part of the project. This is the part where we choose what we want to do and how we are going to do it. For inspiration I’m going to look at 'Nuts' magazine which I think is the best example of a male orientated magazine
Magazine
In this mock up magazine I have tried to use an image that will entice the younger audiences that this product was aimed at. The image works as the viewer doesn't know who they are looking at, it could be anyone and that creates mystery. The small image at the side was put in you create repetition which emphasises the effect of mystery. I tried to follow the colour scheme of the image by put the blue text around the outsides of the image, the title is also blue, but has a different shade, I decided to mix it up a bit because the image would look plan and boring with only a couple of colour. The layout could have been better; some of the text is close to over lapping, which could cause confusion when someone is trying to read the cover at speed. I think that the title is very appealing, it’s very flashy and hip, and that is what my target audience like meaning that they are more likely to purchase it.
Lighting Photographs
Side lighting and front lighting.
Lighting is the brightness or darkness of a shot, this can be left as natural light for example outside in the sunlight, or you can used enhanced lighting which is light that is set up by the crew to make a scene brighter.

Front lighting, although created by enhanced lightening, is different to side lighting, it doesn’t give off a masculine appearance, but more of a feminine one. This is because the light emphasises the female features such as the eyes and cheeks. It makes the woman look more attractive as these aspects look brightener and more amplified making the woman look more attractive and appealing. This is also the same as sit makes a window to the future self, because people see the more attractive parts emphasised then they think that that person is actually more attractive and want to be more like them.
If was going to use one of these lightings then I would use side lighting as I intend to make my magazine mostly aimed at men and this will give the men someone to look to be or create a window for the future self for them. I think that front lighting is good but think that it wouldn’t fit as well into my idea of a magazine.
Shutter Speed
Shutter speed is the speed that the shutter closes after you take a picture. The faster the shutter speed then the less motion blur there is in the image, this can give you a still. The fast shutter speed also makes an image darker, this is because there is less light getting into the camera as it is opening and closing the shutter to make it faster. A slow shutter closes the shutter slower; this means that motion blur can be made because while the shutter is open it takes in what is seen. This means that you cannot move the camera as you will make the image blurred because it takes in the image taken. Slow shutter make the image lighter, this is because the shutter is open for much longer and takes in more of the light.

This is a better shutter speed picture. The lighting is good and it is a still. This was all down to the lighting of the environment. Because the lighting was much better and I had experimented with the different shutter speeds to make the image much clearer. A still like this is used in professional photography to try and catch fast things when they are moving. For example in Car or motorbike racing it is hard to take a good still of a fast moving vehicle like that.
Here is a bad example of a slow shutter speed. The image is so blurred you can’t see what it is meant to be. This is because it was taken when the camera was moving. When the camera moved it took all the light from where it was aimed, resulting in it not looking like a picture. To stop this blur you can have simply use a tripod, this prevents the camera from moving when the picture is bring taken. The lighting of the images is good thought, it isn’t too bright which is what can happen if you have a very low shutter speed.

Introduction Project
In evaluation to this project, I have developed some new skills, for example, I have learnt about distances of shots and how to integrate the Images taken into a story board and what a story board needs. Also I have learnt how to expand a selection box In Photoshop. Although I have gain some skills there are still some skills I feel I have weaknesses In, I thInk that I need to develop my camera skIlls in lIghtIng and depth of fIeld as some of the Images taken where dark and also sometImes blurry. I think that by developing the skills that I am weak in then I will become much better in media.
In the task we were asked to take a produce and re-brand it, to do this we made a new advert that would make it appealing to an audience that it didn’t appeal to before. We were given pilchards and they normally are aimed at older people that grew up when the pilchards came out or in the World War when people were rationed. The target audience we had to rebrand it for was 16 to 19 year olds, it could be either males or females but I think that our advert would appeal to males more. The advert was of a man in a pilchards box being chased, while he was shouting at the chaser to ‘come get me’ and ‘you know you was some’, I think that this is appealing to our target audience as it is a funny advert and younger people, mainly males, tend to remember funnier adverts. Although it was a good idea it had faults like it wasn’t really relevant to the product which make the audience draw away from what it was really about and concentrate mostly on the entertainment of the adverts. I think that our advert does meet the requirements of the task set as, like i have said, people enjoy a funny advert and they tend to stick in the mind of younger people, I do think though that things could be changed for example more people chasing the man, or maybe the man throwing pilchards at people to make the advert even more entertaining and influential.
This unit I have developed my Photoshop skills more as I learnt how to use the expand tool which is very useful when trying to give text different effect. I think that I have used these skills reasonably well in this task as the work that I produced seems to be at a high standard. I think that my story board Is the weakest part of this task as I don’t think that I learn enough about It and didn’t know about many of the different kinds of camera shots. I think I could Improve It If I looked up and researched story boards and what they normally contain. I think that if this was to be done again I would probably make the story board bigger with more pictures and with more detail about each image, I think I would also change the way the camera was used, as some of the pictures were blurry and a little dark.
I think that’s this project shows that I understand the audience segmentation system because it shows that I have thought about whom I’m targeting and what kind of things interest them and what things annoy them. For example if I was trying to get an older person to buy my produce then I wouldn’t use bright flashy colours as it wouldn’t appeal to them, it would probably put them off. Also thinking about the sex and sexuality of the person helped with the decision as, and advert for a woman would, be different from one aimed at men, this is because they have different preferences and different ideas of a good advert.
